The Role
As Internal Auditor, you play a key role in strengthening governance, risk management and internal control at a listed, AI-first tech company, and in helping CM.com achieve its strategic objectives. You are the only internal auditor at CM.com, which makes this a highly visible and influential position. You report administratively to the CEO and functionally to the Audit Committee, and you have a direct line to the Supervisory Board. You are a trusted advisor to the CEO, the CFO and the Audit Committee: you get close to the business, look ahead at emerging risks and opportunities, translate them into practical, actionable advice, and help the right decisions get made. Innovation is at the heart of this position, with a strong focus on AI-driven auditing.
This role combines recurring responsibilities with project-based work, offering both structure and variety. You also build the function further, in line with the Global Internal Audit Standards of the IIA.
You will
Aligning the audit plan with CM.com’s strategy and strategic risks, so that internal audit focuses on what matters most for achieving our objectives
Defining and maintaining the Internal Audit Charter, methodology and a risk-based annual and multi-year audit plan, approved by the Audit Committee, with room for emerging risks
Performing operational, financial, IT, security and compliance audits across the business and countries, including testing the design and operating effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting
Reporting on follow-up of non-conformities and corrective actions, and supporting continuous improvement of the management systems
Auditing our own use of AI: governance, model and data risks, security, privacy and compliance with the EU AI Act
Assessing compliance with relevant regulation and codes, such as the Dutch Corporate Governance Code, DORA, PSD2, GDPR and CSRD
Reporting to the Audit Committee and the Supervisory Board on findings, risks, follow-up of agreed actions and the effectiveness of the internal audit function
Aligning with the external auditor, Risk & Business Assurance and other assurance providers (three lines model, combined assurance)
Investigating fraud and integrity signals and advising on follow-up
Safeguarding independence and objectivity, and preparing the periodic quality assessment of the function
You also use data analytics, continuous auditing and AI tools to test full populations, spot risks earlier and make audit work faster and sharper, together with our BI and data teams.
You will be part of an international organization operating in 15 countries, in which Finance is centrally organized. You collaborate closely with the CEO, the CFO and other business and corporate functions, giving you broad exposure and the opportunity to make a meaningful impact across the organization.
Job requirements
A Master’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business or IT Audit; RA, CIA, CISA, RO or CRMA qualification is a plus
Several years of experience in internal audit, external audit or risk & control, ideally at a listed company or at a ‘big 4’ firm
Experience reporting to an Audit Committee and/or Supervisory Board is a plus
Strong knowledge of COSO, IIA standards, IFRS and internal control over financial reporting; affinity with IT, cloud, payments and regulated environments
Experience with ISO standards (e.g. ISO 27001, ISO 9001) and management system audits is a plus
Strategic and commercial awareness: you understand how the business creates value, and you can connect risk and control insights to strategic priorities
An independent, analytical and hands-on mindset; you take ownership, work accurately and are able to communicate effectively and with confidence at all levels, including with board members and commissioners
A strong interest in automation and AI; you are AI-savvy or eager to further develop your skills in improving audit processes through technology
Professional proficiency in English and Dutch (written and spoken); experience in an internationally operating organization is a plus
